A Div Nationals has started on 8th April 2015. There were plenty of exciting matches on Day 1 as teams went head to head and scores were close. Several of the games were won by just a margin of a few points. Our girls faced our 2014 semi finalist opponent Nanyang JC for their opening game. It was a cagey affair throughout even though we were in the lead all the way into the 4th quarter. Our girls performed admirably especially Bernice and Carisia who fought hard for loose balls and nailed important jumpers. Our lead grew to 10 points at one stage. However, in the 4th quarter, the NY girls went on a streak after a turnover and scored their only 3pt shot of the game. They clawed back our lead and our girls grew more nervous in possession. NY took the lead 33-31 with less than a minute to play. Coach called for a timeout and re-organised our girls. Charmaine got the inbound and against a triple team (which NY used to much effect during the game), she scored the basket to tie it at 33-33 with only 8 seconds left. NY coach then called for a timeout and their no.9 expectedly got the ball and dribbled in. Our girls closed in on her but left her teammate open on the baseline. She dished it off to her teammate and she scored to make it 35-33 with only 2 seconds left. We called for another timeout and unfortunately our last shot was blocked and the game is over.

However, the season is far from over as we have another 4 more games in the prelim stage and if we win all 4 remaining matches, we will make it to the semi-finals.

Go RAFFLES!
