Carisia looking for a fast break opportunity.

Right from the get-go, our team plunged full-force into the game – nailing 16 points in the first quarter alone. Any opportune moments that our opponents had to score against us were ruthlessly shut down by our aggressive full-court defence. The convincing lead made it evident that our players on court had only one thing in common that day – FOCUS.

The second quarter however, was slightly more daunting. Lapses in grabbing rebounds and our porous defence gave our opponents leeway to score their first 2 points in the game. Nonetheless, we were still able to widen the score gap, leaving our opponents with the unenviable challenge to overcome an almost unassailable lead.

Starting the second half of the game with a score line of 24-2, our opponents were already running out of steam. We conveniently used that to our advantage and from that point on, we were unstoppable. Upping the pressure on our opponents, our tough defence allowed us to make several steals, converting them for easy baskets. Frequent shots from the mid-range were also attempted and made. By the last quarter, the score difference gave our coach the confidence to make frequent rotations to the 5 on court. The game eventually concluded with RI bagging the win at 46-7.

Despite staying in a comfortable lead throughout the game, we were conscious to not let that get to our heads and cause us to go easy on our opponents. We played with rigour to our usual standards in preparation for the upcoming matches where we will be pitted against stronger and more aggressive teams.
